angelfish?
I have an angelfish that is laying eggs on my filter in my 125 gallon fish tank, another angelfish is eating them the second she is laying them. Is this normal?
i have 3 angelfish, 2 are a pair, the male of the pair is the one eating the eggs as soon as the female lays them.
I dont think so. Is it the pair? The male? Usually the parents protect the eggs. And they kill any fish that go near their eggs. Id look up more about them
you should separate the angelfish eating the eggs
that seems alittle strange to me try seperating the other male and/or try to set up a better spot for her to lay the eggs……i dont know much about angles but yo can try broad leaf plants or decorations were they can hide the eggs
the male angelfish usually does’nt eat the eggs and instead will protect them with his life. the best thing to do is to take the female out and put her into a temporary tank that is the same temperature and acidity as the original tank. when she is done laying eggs, put her back in the main tank. when the baby fish or “fry” hatch feed them with “liquid fry food” and work your way slowly up to “daphnia” or other small water insects untill they are big enough to be released into the main tank and eat the regular food you feed the adult fish.

Yes, it’s normal. The angelfish is laying eggs while the other angelfish eats the UNFERTILIZED eggs.

Typical young pair that feels threatened by other fish in the tank. Why should the male protect eggs that will get eaten anyway? He knows this, and isn’t about to give the other fish a good meal.
